Description

This is a very simple application that uses the concept of Application Trigger messages. Once installed on a mobile device send the device a SMS message on port 6666. This will then activate the application automatically. If the SMS message contains a URL you will then have the ability o launch that website.

Requirements

This application has been tested on the following devices:
NOKIA N80
NOKIA 6680
Please post a comment to the project forum if you have issues with using this on other devices.

Usage Instructions

Install the application as specified in the Readme file. You can activate the application by sending an Application Trigger SMS message to port 6666.

Please look at the API Reference Guide in the API section of our site to find out how to do this. If the SMS message contains a URL starting with www then you will have to option to launch that URL.

Example Code

Hi
I have received some comments about example code to help with the development of applications that use Application Trigger messages. I have written a tutorial that contains lots of information on this concept, it also contains a link to a site with all the example code needed to launch an application to using an Application Trigger message.

Application Trigger example

The Vodafone Web Technologies team are currently looking into a new concept called Application Trigger. The idea is that you send a SMS message to a mobile device on a specific port. When the message is received an application on the phone is executed with out any user interaction. We have developed a simple example of this just so you can experience it working. Feel free to download the example and test it using the Betavine API to send the trigger message to your phone.

We are currently writing a tutorial on this concept to help all you developers out there. There will also be some more exciting applications being uploaded shortly.
