Over the air - Review
Hi all,
I'm just arriving to my country after OTA conference, and my overall opinion about it is really good.
I would like to start talking about organization what it was perfect, very fast registration procedure, good coordination between conferences, no panic when alarm went off!, enough food to satisfy hungry developers, and nice Yahoo! Party with music and plenty of hot-dogs, pizza, hamburgers and beers?.what more would developers want to have?
Regarding to talks, it was great the variety of topics covered by them from location frameworks (Yahoo! FireEagle) to widgets (S60, Yahoo! Go, ), SVG, JME, Mobile Web, Web APIs, Flash apps, Windows Mobile, Qtopia, Android, Web Apps, Cloud computing, user experience? But most important thing was that experts in each area were presenting these topics so interactivity during talks was high.
Master classes were most technical sessions showing snippets code and showing in-live the possibilities of each technology, so from developer point of view this kind of sessions are the best way to know new technologies as well as its very attractive to us in order to incite developers to create new applications based on it.
All night hack-a-thon deserve a separate mention, number of developers participating on that long session was really big and consequently the higher number of applications reflected that fact. Quality and creativity were in most of cases the best words to define them.
Finally highlight ad-hoc and improvisation conversations with tech leaders and developers sharing different points of view and interests as well as recruitment staff of some companies looking for future tech and developer leaders
Just comment I took part in OTA collaborating with Applix and in a talk about MIDP 3.0- State of Art and a Master-class showing demos of MIDP 3.0 applications running over Aplix MIDP 3.0 beta-implementation.
The slides of our presentations are online:
MIDP 3.0 - Master Class
MIDP 3.0 - State of art
In a short time all OTA presentations will be available in that site.
Cheers and I hope see you soon in next developer?s event,
Oscar
